Birthday card for a friend! I  (horribly) drew dva, zidane and sora.. since she liked these three characters.

I feel really rusty with ink and sketchbook. Time to dig up all of my old equipments and start sketchbooking again.

Xmas Postcards

This year I received so much help from various people so I wanted to thank them for accepting me, flawed and all. I finally saw it on first hand basis the power of kindness and acceptance that change someone close to me who in turn changed me to hopefully a better person.

So, I did some xmas postcards to give to precious people in my life.

Hopefully it would make them smile.

I wonder how many people know this old IP. This is my bro fave game as a child, he used to play it so much I grew sick listening to the battle song, I can still hum it now and its on my head as I painted it.

Was working on this belated birthday card for my bro on my free time so didn't have time to do more studies.Gonna try to catch up this weekend!

Hey Its my birthday!

Another year older..hopefully wiser! : D

Time really flies in a blink of an eye, it felt just like yesterday I posted the pen drawing of the bird totem but its been tremendously fun and exciting year. Hopefully the other half of this year gonna be just as awesome and looking forward to learn and explore more things in life!

Ahma in EGYPT!

My ah ma (grandma) had traveled to most of the countries except for Egypt, she told me once to go with her there. Unfortunately there had been no chance for her to go there and now she had grown so old and could not walk without support.

It was then a thought pop up in my mind.. that I could bring her there.. at least in drawing. It suddenly crossed to me too.. that this could be the raison d'etre for artist existence.. which is to bring dreams to people in ways many things could not.

Anyway, Gonna frame it and give it to her as present. Hope she will like it! :)

Inktober part 3 (day 12-17)

Sorry for the lack of update! Has been busy!!

For this batch of Inktober I decided to do postcards.

All of these postcards are for friends that helped out during my solo trip to Japan.

All of them are done with ink pen and then colored using watercolor.(The colors are kinda faded and the value slightly darkened after being scanned into the computer...)

 Traditional painting is so much harder (I miss you ctrl+z) but I have to say its faster in a way because it does not allow you to noodle around since there is a limitation (e.g canvas)

Tho, there are so many mistakes and poor execution here and there, I sincerely hope they will like it!

Farewell card

A farewell card for one of my close friend who was leaving to go back to Japan to chase after her dream. She is one awesome artist that I learnt so much from. I will miss discussing about space and quantum science with you. Goodbye Mai! Until we meet again!

Random Thought

Just a thought in the middle of a night...

Drawing..I feel that its an honest medium... Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder... that quote hold true when someone sees our art work.. and thus comments are very subjective. But when more than one person critics regarding the same thing, that is when we know something is not working..

And in drawing, we can truly see when someone puts in effort and when someone is not. Well putting more time in one drawing is not necessarily good, at times it pays to work smart. But working smart comes from working hard and experiencing it and then learning to cheat and cutting corners at the right places.

And at times, I do feel drawing can be very unforgiving.. especially to beginner artist.. I am also one :)

Since comment is subjective, its at times hard to know which comment is right and not. At times, it pays to know what we want.. but in the end, client is always right.. I always think its good to be democratic and slither around the rule.. Do what is expected of you, yet still do it your way...

One thing that I really want to stress here, is.. learn to forgive yourself and your art... A lot of people gave up drawing.. because they took it too seriously.. and they think they suck at it. There are many times when I also want to give up... and many times that I feel like I should just hate my work cause its just that bad... but at the end of the day.. drawing should be FUN!

That is one thing we always lost when we try to learn art.. we took it too seriously, like a subject that must be thought and ponder over like maths or literature.. true that many factors have to be thought over when designing and drawing, but in the end, loosen up your ties and have fun!

There is no one way solution is doing a drawing. And its not a subject that we can snap our fingers and do well. No matter who tell me their baby is a Picasso, I do not buy that. That baby is a Picasso, because he/she had fun and keep on doing it until they have a masterpiece.

Art, to me, is really subject that is honest in showing the love and care placed into a work. I, myself, am still green and still so much more to learn and do.. but while I am doing this, I do not ever want to hate art.. so lets have FUN!
