Fire Emblem Blazing Blade: Lyndis And Mark
The very first fire emblem that I played! My favorite pairing are still these two, its unfortunate that they were never even given an ending together.. but screw that! Fanart to cure my childhood sadness!

Fan art of
Ghost in the shell S.A.C. 2nd GIG
Episode 11: 草迷宮 AFFECTION
As requested by my good friend for her birthday!
The theme for this drawing is the 千羽鶴, senbazuru. Its a group of a thousand origami cranes held together by strings. I cant fold that many cranes with one hand but I hope she will achieve her dream!

Virtual Plein Air Study 10
Another plein air of Lauterbrunnen.
I really like the source reference that I found from google so I took more time with it and spent about 4 hours on it.
Here is the breakdown:
Step 01.
Sketch and rough value grouping.
Step 02.
Planning and trying to find the light source.
Step 03.
Rough color block in.
Step 04.
One hour painting in. I wanted to focus on establishing the texture.
I started of the far mountain to get comfortable in painting the rocky texture. ( I was referring alot to Mark Maggiori paintings to see how he does it.)
Step 05.
Another hour painting in.
Started to paint the more important sections that I wanted to focus on (that I already planned in step 02.
Step 06.
Final shot! This is about another one and a half hour after the previous step.
I kinda speed up around this time since I was running out of time!
Hope you had fun seeing the step by step!

Virtual Plein Air Study 9
Here is another plein air of Prokletije, also known as the Albanian Alps and the Accursed Mountain! A quicker one this time, about one and half hour.
I felt like my work always lack in terms of texture so this time i tried to focus more on it but its really hard! Definitely something I have to try to improve on. I will do another similar one tomorrow.

Virtual Plein Air Study 8
Here is a 3 hours plein air of Lauterbrunnen. I really love this area so I wanted to do more of it. As usual the reference image was found from google! I thought it would be fun to do a breakdown step by step of my thinking and process so I can analyze it afterward or to share it with whoever is interested. So here it goes:
Hope you enjoyed it! If you have any feedback on how to improve the workflow/paintings please do let me know!
Step. 01
Sketch. Roughing it out and marking x where the shadow was gonna be.
Step. 02
I was planning and breaking down the scene.
As I do more plein air I grew to appreciate the importance of this step!
The yellow lines were where the lights gonna hit.
The green lines were for the texture I wanted to try to use it to try to establish scale.
The pink lines were where I wanted to try to focus on. But I later on I tweaked it further.
Its not here but I actually wrote some plan on paper too on what I wanted to achieve.E.g Temperature shift etc.
Step. 03
Another step on the planning, I wanted to know how will I break the layers so I did this quickly.
Step. 04
Thanks to step 3, I can quickly block out the lights and the layer groups.
Here I didnt really pay attention to the color yet.
Merely blocking it quickly. (step 01-04 were done in about 1 hour)
Step. 05
Establishing the local colors! I tried to keep it quick so its rather dirty and ugly.
After this step I start to refine the paintings.
I like to start from the sky since it gives me + mood boost whenever I paint sky :D
Step. 06
Just wanted to show the in between. This is one hour into the painting
I start to tweak the color to play around with the temperature that I had planned on doing in step02.
Step. 07
Another hour later and Its done! :D
Hope you enjoyed it! If you have any feedback on how to improve the workflow/paintings please do let me know!

Virtual Plein Air Study 6
Another plein air for warmup, about two hours of Albanian alps! The reference image was super beautiful, I fell in love with the landscape.
It took longer since I went back and forth a little bit, trying not to copy the reference image. Using it more as a inspirational point and used the opportunity to play around with the color and temperature.

Virtual Plein Air Study 5
Another virtual plein air study, this time of New Zealand landscape!
The reference image was found from google but this time I tried to be follow it more loosely. I tried to take some liberty with the color shift and design language that was going on in the reference image.
About three hours since I went back and forth a little bit trying to adjust the color.

VH1:Ash Lambert
Here is a fan art of Ash Lambert from Vandal Hearts. Another ps1 tactical rpg game by konami that I liked alot though its rather obscure. I kinda changed his design since there wasn't that much to go from. Whilst Suikoden introduced me into war theme, VH brings me to love political fantasy story!

I feel super inspired by her plein air so I decided to do one myself. This took about 4 hours.
I found the image from google when I was researching for my holiday trip. Its a super beautiful image of lake tekapo in NZ. I would love to live in that building<3 !

FF Jazz Time: Inked
Finally finished inking it! A tribute to my childhood..! I was especially moved by Aerith theme during distant world orchestra that I attended with my friends last year. Hope you like it and feels as nostalgic as I did!
Below is the version without the title.
Again, Would love to wish all of you a happy new year and hope you will have a better year ahead!
(Fun facts: I signed my name as 詠史 マソエン , a play on my name and I really like the meaning of the kanji :D)
