Anatomy: Torso Muscle 2

It was really hard to understand anatomy and memorize it in the beginning but I think I am starting to remember them and got used to drawing them.. I am still struggling with understanding how it turns and how it moves but I am happy to see some progress :)

Environment Design Linework

I am really bad with linework so this was an attempt to be better at it..  as a consolation though, it was really fun to design the environment.

For the first two image I was heavily inspired by Japanese culture, since I was just there not that long ago and took tonnes of ref images so I wanted to use them. I tried to push in them in totally opposite direction from each other, with the first one more of a ancient samurai statue/golem that had gone through decays and taken over by nature. I thought it would also be interesting to have the torii gate as the sword instead of the normal katana as a way to create unique spin to the culture and I thought it would also be fun to have perhaps a broken helmet, maybe fallen down from one of the statue as a way for the character to go up and get a better view of the surrounding or if its a stage design, it could be reused later on as part of the puzzle or obstacles.

In the second image I was thinking of waterfall/dam and castle. This time around I took some influence from the japanese mask and demon and tried to integrate it to the building to try to create sort of a demon city. I was worried to over detail the building at the background ..and was not sure how much detail is good to place there.

In the third image I went to totally different direction and used influence from egypt culture, I thought of some religious ground or temple. with a misty/sandstorm-ish background of far away buildings.

(THE REF IMAGES here are all grabbed online and is not taken by me)

ART STATION Journey FINAL Submission~!

 -- THE ROYAL PILGRIMAGE--

Here is my final submission for artstation journey challenge!

I ended up changing a lot of the design and composition from my original sketch. Now looking back I feel there are still many more things I can improve upon (especially on the design.. I found tonnes of great reference images in the middle of painting!) but its okay I have learnt so much from doing this piece and I have to move on so I can do a better one next time! If you have any feedback or what to watch out for next time, please do share it with me!

ART STATION Journey Submission! part 2

After taking a break.. I felt that I deviated from my original idea a bit too much so I decided to do another thumbnails based on my earlier thumbs (4,9,15) but I tried to push the perspective and distance.

Then I took it and reused some of the color keys that I like to use it as a base for the color. I think I will be going forward with 4A or 4B! Let me know what do you think or which one is your favorite!

ART STATION Journey Submission!

Hello everyone! I decided to join artstation JOURNEY art challenge!
https://www.artstation.com/contests/the-journey/challenges/5/submissions/3805

Here are my thumbnails for my submission. Had an idea about a journey of a son of a demon king who set off in a ritual passage to be a full grown demon. In some of the thumbnails I imagined him as having a royal procession as he sets off on his sacred journey to conquer the human world, in others I trimmed it to just him or him and his mount (minotaur/other mythical creature)
After doing the thumbnails, I decided to try to splash some colors to try to find some plausible mood for the journey. At first I tried to stick with the 3 keywords I gave myself but I thought it was limiting the possibilities so in some occasions I deviated from it. I was thinking of proceeding with 2C or 1C. If you have any suggestion on the mood/how to improve upon these or which do you think are the better choice.. please do let me know :D
